Definition und Verwendung

Die alt-Eigenschaft legt den Wert des alt-Attributs eines Bildes fest oder gibt ihn zurück.

Das erforderliche alt-Attribut gibt einen alternativen Text für ein Bild an, wenn das Bild aus irgendeinem Grund nicht angezeigt werden kann (aufgrund einer langsamen Verbindung, eines Fehlers im src-Attribut oder wenn der Benutzer einen Screenreader verwendet).

Hinweis: Internet Explorer zeigt den Wert des Alt-Attributs als QuickInfo an, wenn Sie mit der Maus über das <img>-Element fahren. Dies ist gemäß der HTML-Spezifikation NICHT das richtige Verhalten. Alle anderen Browser folgen der Spezifikation und zeigen den Alt-Text nur an, wenn das Bild nicht angezeigt werden kann.

Tipp: Wenn Sie einen Tooltip für ein Bild erstellen möchten, verwenden Sie das globale Titelattribut.
